Legal Status of Giget.ai Flips
Giget.ai Flips are non-monetary community exchange tokens. They have no independent cash value, cannot be purchased, sold, or redeemed for money, and are not a financial instrument, virtual currency, cryptocurrency, stored value, prepaid access, or money substitute of any kind.
Flips are used exclusively within the Giget.ai platform ecosystem to facilitate skill-for-skill service exchanges among consenting community members. Giget.ai is not a money transmitter, payment processor, or financial institution.
Tax Obligations — Barter Income (Important)
Under U.S. IRS rules (Publication 525, Rev. Proc. 2004-53) and similar regulations in other jurisdictions, the fair market value of services exchanged through barter is generally considered taxable income in the year received. This applies to exchanges facilitated through Giget.ai.
- You are solely responsible for determining, reporting, and paying all applicable taxes on the fair market value of services you receive.
- Giget.ai does not issue IRS Form 1099-B or other tax documents on your behalf (unless required by law).
- Barter exchanges may also be subject to self-employment tax, VAT, GST, or other local taxes depending on your jurisdiction.
- Giget.ai recommends consulting a qualified tax professional regarding your specific obligations.

Platform Role
Giget.ai is a marketplace platform, not a direct service provider. Giget.ai does not perform services, does not employ providers, does not guarantee service outcomes, and is not responsible for disputes between users. Users transact directly with each other at their own risk.
Flips (Exchange Tokens)
Giget.ai Flips are non-monetary community exchange tokens with no independent cash value, no purchasing power outside the platform, and no exchangeability for any currency or financial instrument. Flips are used exclusively within the Giget.ai ecosystem to facilitate skill-for-skill exchanges. Flips are not virtual currency, cryptocurrency, stored value, or a money substitute. Earning Flips through service exchanges may constitute taxable barter income under IRS rules and applicable local laws — users are solely responsible for all tax reporting obligations. Unused Flips may expire after 12 months of account inactivity. Giget.ai reserves the right to adjust Flip values, expiration policies, and platform contributions at any time.
Platform Fees
Giget.ai charges a 10% platform contribution on all completed transactions. This fee is automatically deducted from the service provider's earnings. Additional fees, commissions, or transaction costs may be introduced and will be disclosed in advance. Users may not circumvent fees by taking transactions off-platform.
User Responsibilities
Users are responsible for: (1) Compliance with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations; (2) Obtaining proper licensing, permits, or certifications required for their services; (3) Reporting and paying all applicable taxes on income earned, including barter income; (4) Providing accurate, truthful service descriptions; (5) Maintaining professional conduct in all interactions.
Prohibited Activities
Users may not: list or offer illegal services; engage in money laundering or financial fraud; submit fake, incentivized, or misleading reviews; harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users; use hate speech or offensive content; circumvent platform fees; create multiple accounts to abuse the system; engage in any activity that disrupts platform operations.
Identity & Verification
Giget.ai may require identity verification before users can offer or book certain services. Providing false identity information is grounds for immediate account termination.
Reviews & Ratings
Reviews must reflect genuine experiences from completed orders only. Fake, incentivized, or retaliatory reviews are prohibited. Giget.ai reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these policies.
Dispute Resolution
Disputes between users should first be attempted directly. Unresolved disputes may be escalated to Giget.ai for mediation. By using the platform, users agree to binding arbitration for all disputes with Giget.ai. Class action litigation is not permitted. Users waive their right to jury trial for platform-related disputes.
Account Suspension
Giget.ai may suspend or permanently ban accounts at its sole discretion for violations of these terms. Suspended accounts may forfeit accumulated Flips. Users may appeal suspensions through the official support process.
Platform Governance
Giget.ai reserves the right to: modify these terms at any time; adjust search rankings and visibility algorithms; moderate or remove content; change Flip policies and platform contributions; update platform features and functionality. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
Liability Disclaimer
Giget.ai provides the platform "as is" without warranties of any kind. Giget.ai is not liable for: service quality or outcomes; user disputes or fraud; data loss; platform downtime; or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Users indemnify Giget.ai against claims arising from their use of the platform.
Non-Circumvention
Users who discover other users through Giget.ai are prohibited from taking transactions off-platform to avoid fees for a period of 24 months following initial contact through the platform. Violations may result in account termination and legal action.
